Cheers for the reply.

Not wanting to go against the sponsors but heard a lot of good things about JGM on scoobynet. Anyone on here had a map from Simon.

Just seen the RR day and put my name down :)

I had my hatch STI done by Simon (JGM) and I am very happy with his work,( I believe he can road map and dyno)

I would recommend speaking to a few specialists and make up your own mind as it is your pride and joy at the end of the day

Heard mixed things about JGM while on the subject......(not slagging MODS)

Scatty used to use him a lot with his impreza and was pleased with his figures

Then I've heard others not so happy

Guess that's going to be true of all mappers though

Ring the first guy who mapped and ask him what kind of map it has on it already.

i.e. is it an open source map or a proper ECUtek licensed map.

If the previous person has paid for the license, it will save you £250 already and you can just get a tweak from scoobyclinic for example.

You can still what ever mapper you want, but I'd recommend hiring a rolling road somewhere and getting it mapped on that rather than the road.

Thanks again for the comments.

Will speak to Andy Carr to see what map is on it. I think its an open source map but will check.

Api's mapper is really ill and they are trying a new one out so going to be 3 weeks or so before they can fit it in grrrr

Will give scooby clinic a call

In fairness I don't think Area 52 have either

It might be a good idea to start a technical thread to discuss your engine/mapping requirements. Or better still a project thread that you can update as you go along

That's true but I have pm'd Scooby clinic though.

Don't want to start a project thread those things cost money haha

But yeah should put up a different thread.

Hi,

to be fair I have only just seen this thread, its title didn’t lend itself to mapping queries and I just popped on to say hi when I find there are mapping questions.

Ironically all the people who recommend API don’t realise that its our mapper, Pat herborn, who goes to API on Wednesdays to do Dave’s mapping, true Dave occasionally uses Bob Rawle, and he has some new guy he is trying out due to Pat having been a bit ill recently, although Pat is here everyday, mapping a 330 s on the dyno as I type, its the driving from Chesterfield to API in Warwick that’s the problem as Pat is suffering from an ear infection that causes dizyness so refuses to drive very far for now.

Pat is also the owner and developer of the Syvecs ecu which is one serious bit of kit, so he does know his stuff !!

The only way to map is on a dyno then sign off the car on the road, best of both worlds with graphs of BHP, Torque, AFR and boost and the final little tweaks done on the road.

Cheers

Kev, scoobyclinic.

P.S. did you PM me as I don’t recall, if so did I reply, get so many these days hard to keep track.

Hi

no need to apologise, thought I hadn’t seen a PM as I always reply to them,

Mapping ......

ecu tec re maps are £550.00 + vat = £660.00 in total.

The reason the re map is £550.00 is that the first map needs a licence applying to the ecu which is £200.00 and is included in the £550.00, once done any future upgrades needing map adjustments are from £150.00 to a max of £350.00

Please make sure that you run the car on V power or tescos 99 as other fuels are not good enough for your thorough bred race horse, remember feed it good corn and it will perform, feed it rubbish it will get flabby, stop performing and eventually fall ill.

Also in these cases we prefer to dyno the car before we carry out any upgrades, this shows us where we are starting from.

All mapping carried out on our dyno with printouts of fuelling, boost, BHP and torque, cars are then signed off with a road test

There you go, no need for a PM

Cheers

Kev

Just fix a block of wood under the loud pedal. Absolutely no reason to have two boost settings. I like the self regulating analogue o - 100% boost setting that comes free with every map :) Or in other words your right foot :)
