jukebox
Ok...go easy as Im a noob and I dont know whether the below sort of thing is frowned on on here.Bought my car just over a week ago (04 wrx which I was told was tuned to 280bhp) and since my mate at work saw it he's give me a bit of stick. He's got a Cayman S and apparently its the muts nuts and my car looks like its been driven through Halfords etc etc. He's been baiting me to have a little 'play' against him and Ive refused......until today :-)We both pulled out of work and were being egged on by the lads who were standing outside having a fag so he wheelspun off and I give the Scoob a tickle so the DV blew off.I decided to take an alternate way home from work and follow him for a while and as we pulled onto a 'private (cough)' dual carriageway...I selected second gear and we both dropped the clutch.I heard his engine note change and as I was holding on boost I floored it and nearly proceeded to take the back of his car off :-0 lightly braked and hit third and was welded on his ar5e. Into fourth and he started to gently pull away from me and I backed off as you can imagine what speeds we were hitting in 4th.Anyway..I would have loved to have spanked him but I presume the extra few horses he had put paid to that.I think I now need more power and Ive only had it a week :-(Or was that a fair result.Note...obviously I dont know if there are any fun police on here and if there is.... this was conducted on a private dual carriageway that the public do not have access to ;-)
gwr northants
We all like to have a bit of fun in our cars mate nowt wrong with it lol , firstly the 280 bhp have you seen a dyno and supporting mods to back this up ?? A wrx I'd say wouldn't need loads to get it to that bhp , what mods has it got ? Try and get it on the dyno ASAP , it could yes be running lean ? Or too rich ?? All of wich is a bad thing , and can cost loads , it could be running sweet as a nut so yes I'd say dyno health check , I'm getting my new Scoob done tomorrow , as for more power ? You could go loads of different routes to get say 330 at a moderate cost , the gearboxes on the wrx ain't th best but will handle more than 280 . I could say get this turbo them injectors etc etc etc your beat bet is to ring up one of the sponsors have a chat , most of them will supply second hand parts to help keep cost down , we all have our own opinion on mods , and lastly ?? Beaten by a fat arse cayman !! U big fookin woos !! Hang ya head in discust !! Should of killed him in second floored it then left him on a few bends !n tut tut
The Gaffer
Hi,welcome aboard....Try our performance pack #2 which is what you have already + a bigger turbo, uprated injectors, inle piupe and a bespoke re map done on our rollers, then you can spank him..Please make sure that you run the car on V power or tescos 99 as other fuels are not good enough for your thorough bred race horse, remember feed it good corn and it will perform, feed it rubbish it will get flabby, stop performing and eventually fall ill. Also in these cases we prefer to dyno the car before we carry out any upgrades, this shows us where we are starting from. All mapping carried out on our dyno with printouts of fuelling, boost, BHP and torque, cars are then signed off with a road testCheersKev

The car is run on V Power as Ive run Tesco fuel a few times before and its made my car run cr4p (T4)Think Ill have some more fun for a month or 2 and then garage it over winter with a view to uprating ready for next spring. Thanks for the reply :-)

It had an issue with fifth and a box was put in from a low mileage car and also had an issue with brake discs warped..now uprated to godspeed. It was also used as a demo car for a car audio business so it was loaded with speakers and taken to shows 5 years ago.The last owner seemed a good bloke and not really a speedjunkie.... just a car enthusiaist. Thats why I bought the car from him after looking for one for 3 months previous.I do feel bad now you said I should have tanked him though :-(
jukebox
Just another quick one.......After getting to 3 figures on this private dual carriageway I noticed the bonnet vent seemed a bit.......sort of bouncy wobbly.Theres nothing wrong with it as Ive checked and I just presume its because its sitting in front of your face that you notice ? -Stealth-
Welcome to scoob ownership. Most of what you described is normal, the bonnet and scoop always looks like they're gonna blow off so don't worry to much.As for the performance against a caymen S, my house mate had one and I whooped his ass all day long (mines an STi though with 325ish at the time) so slightly more than yours. You run a lot more torque then him and 1st to 3rd gear are where our cars perform the best. 4th onwards may seem a bit of struggle without turbo upgrades. His was probably pulling away from you due to aero dynamics at triple figure speeds rather than power. Remember we have to push a barge through the same amount of air compared to his streamlined 2 seater and at those speeds aero dynamics make a big difference. 0-90 though you'll win everytime! Thinking about it because I had to dab the brakes that would have helped him pull away. The good thing is he was only pulling lightly on me and it was in 3 figures by that time.Lets see how he fairs next time as I go back home down the lanes by Curborough and its his turn to follow me lol
gwr northants
Don't just look at power mate , chat to people about handling mods , a well sorted Scoob doesn't need huge amounts of power , my Clio track car whoops ass out of a lot of subarus and I've got about 165 bhp , ok it's 900 kg and I drive like a crack hoar , but handling is often over looked !! It's the old saying , power is nothing without control !!!

jukebox
Had another 'Play' today with another lad at work with a 225 megane.Been listening to how great his car is and how he smokes everything and anything...typical 20 something year old bulls**tter who always thinks he's right ( union rep at work so that tells you everything lol)Standing side by side start over a mile off the first island off the A38 down towards Curborough.Made him look like an absolute tit as I hit the next island down and he was 150 yards behind me.....by the go karting track I pulled in and could still hear him rinsing it lol.Best of all when we pulled up he actually said that his turbo wasn't working as it hadn't warmed up and when I offered him a repeat he said he couldn't as he'd got no petrol....even though I was standing there looking at his fuel gauge with half a tank in it lol.Theres gonna be some pi55 ripping tomorrow at work :-)ps..some may read this and think Im a twonk for doing this and posting on a forum but this car makes me feel like a kid again, but I'm too old to sit down maccies and regale my tales so apologies lol.I'll stop it now and grow up.................maybe ;-p
