hendo
Look at it like this mate. I can quote a rewire to a high standard of workmanship, and do it in 2.5 days. Someone else can do it for same price in 5 days. It means I am earning more per day than them but am grafting my tits off to get it done. Less time to have the house in a mess. fleetster
I know what you mean it does seem a MASSIVE amount per hour, however, if it wasnt the highest quote you had and you were happy to pay that price, then providing the job is done to what standard you are after the time shouldnt matter? My Mrs often says this about paying X amount and they had it done in 40 mins or whatever, you are paying for a skill or job you dont want to or can't do, not per hour, if you were paying per hour the job would take 10 times as long,I hate having stuff done for three reasons,1: getting quotes and hoping the finished result is what you want2: having to pay out cash (for things other than mods on the scoob )and3: which is probably the biggest reason i hate having stuff done....... Mrs Fleetster being unhappy with the dissruption, mess etc etc etc.So... to me, the less time it takes the less time you are dissrupted for, we had an extension done last year which my Mrs hated because we were dissrupted for months, however the job was done to exactly what we wanted and within the timescale, in the end we had to pay more than the original quote because of the unforseen, however we are happy There are pleanty of horror stories out there when having work done, we were just thankfull we were'nt having to appear on cowboy builders lol So sit back on your posh patio with a few beers and be glad you had a good job done for what you wanted to pay.... Scratch
Going rate for most tradesman is £200-£300 per day. I assume they provided the mixer etc etc, so perhaps you've paid somewhere towards the top end of what might be expected (I assume it was 2 men). But if it looks like they've done a good job then you got your money's worth.
