Disappointing

Some good points made (and some not so good!! lol) :hrhr:

On a serious note tho, I do believe that alot of this comes down to money these days, people just don't have the money to go to these events with entry fees and petrol to get there, unless they're more local. You only have to look at the amount of people selling their scoobs to realise that people can't afford to run them so much these days.

Andy made a good point about cutting down on the number of events and spreading them out a bit more but again, some people can't always budget and plan ahead with other commitments that come up. Work patterns change too, I know I seem to be working more and more at weekends now so I'm finding it hard to even get the monthly meets sometimes!

It's great that some people do take the time and effort to organise these events and a huge thanks must go out to them - let's hope that things do pick up with the economy and people can enjoy their scoobs again :thumb:

I've met some great people from being a member on here, met Ginger nads as well! Had some cracking times out at meets and other social events as welll. It's a great shame some of us have no longer got our Scoobs. This doesn't mean we aint no longer a part of the scene, I for one, don't mind turning up in the flying JDM van. Am sure if a large number of folk showed an interest in an event it would inspire others to make an effort to attend. Some of this years events clash with other things I've got planned, otherwise I would go. I am driving a 50ton tank on the 29th July ?.

i just think we shouldnt get hung up on it tbh.. more to be worrying about in this world than 10 people going to santa pod etc...still nothing stopping folks from going, stand or no stand....

*** door dingers need not apply.

Right Scatty let's see what happens when i ask if anyone fancy's spectating the sprint at MIRA.

Not far at all, free to get in and more interesting than standing in a pub car park.

Folk won't have to worry about hurting their cars, and what's better than seeing scoobies and evo's fight it out on track.

Let me guess now very little interest.

Why do folk buy the cars in the first place.

well nick i actually think that's a very valid point mate , in an ideal world for me that is !!!!

i would have a car like Adam,s type r , the dogs boll ox looks great with every thing on it

but also i would have a usable car that can be driven the tits out of and hammered ,

lets be honest if i wanted a car to go from a to b in Deffo wouldn't be a f ing scoob , i would rather have me old passat tdi back , comfy all the mod cons and 50 mpg !!!!! ya still have a valid point and yes its still a sad story !!!!

and ps wot do i know im a thick scouse twit lol , but valid points allround

Well just to have my pounds worth, my personal circumstances have changed dramatically over the last 12 months, being made redundant, starting my business and has taken a massive amount of time and money that before i took for granted. I'm still trying to adjust, adapt and be settled without have to sacrifice my social life and car etc. It's a difficult juggling act and I'm sure I'm not the only one in the same boat.

It's not necessarily about money, but the important things that matter in life, and for some, it's not shows or cars, despite driving a scoob.

As an event organiser though, I maintain that it's important to try and cater for all and diversity is the key. Once you've been to a couple of shows, you feel like you've been to them all and does get a bit boring and hard to justify the cost, and there's more to car ownership then walking around a field and looking at other cars.

Your never going to suit everyone and not everyone will attend every event, but by having a couple of shows, a couple of track days, a couple of rolling road days and a maybe a few summer drives over the peak district(which I want to sort) as well as a few open days and other things, means there should be at least one event in the year that members want to attend, and for that reason i think it's worth doing and will continue to do what i can.

I think it is wrong to expect people to attend everything just because there a member and own a scoob, but If they want to, great!

With regards to new members leaving after a couple meets... it is difficult breaking the ice and is very intimidating on the first few meets and events with people you don't know (I've been there!). But to me it It boils down to this;

If people never put the effort into becoming a member, they will never feel like a member.

well i for one would just like to add that from the very first time me and tracy pulled into the pub car park we have never felt anything but a welcoming warmth from ms members though it must be said i tend to think that some members without being asked go beyond the call of duty so to speak and seem to try probably alot harder than they should to make people feel part of the group just too make sure they feel welcomed etc

and on the other/main subject of this topic it is hard for me and tracy to commit time/costs of travelling to bigger meets/events as some of you are aware we have two s.e.n children which i can't really go into detail on here as there is lots of info/details to take in about our situation as it is very complex and above all else we do have to try and be strict with budgeting as we are both carers and only do voulenteer work and yes why some people not necessarely any ms members may think well it can't be all that bad as they drive round in a nice 61 plate zafira some of you are aware mobility vehicle ain't cheap and cost a few 100 amonth just for a 3yr lease anyway i suppose that isn't the issue we are/will try as hard as possible to attend some events with ms etc once we are driving the scoob again which is obviously taking time and £££s to sort but honestly we will be far more proactive where ms is concerned we totally support ms 100% i even had 500 of my own design ms drop cards made up which did only cost £15 with postage

anyway guys n' gals cheers and beers and despite everything said/thought about ms we think its bloody brilliant being a part of it and will allways premote it in any shape or form we can

When you fancy a blast stealth, I've got a new Derbyshire run, just need to get my head round it. Or wack it into your sat nav.

It's loads better than the one myself Andy and ady went on in jan. Might be worth doing August???

Regarding being a new member, we have all been there, you have just got to jump in with both feet. Stealth is the best example, he rocked up not knowing anyone , dived into the group with loads of banter and now we can't get rid of him. Agreed it needs both parties to make an effort. But we have all been that new member once.
