Disappointing

Is it me or do folk not seem bothered with events organised by the club and it's supporters.

All the shows seem down on attendees this year to start with.

Curbough track day, imo the number of people interested seemed a joke, people have gone out of their way to arrange this and nobody's interested.

I will more than likely get flamed for putting this thread up but i think it needs to be said.

Agree entirely mate. The mods don't even come on much anymore either. If they can't be arsed it's no supprise others don't bother either.

Was a time we used to all go to events and meets and have a giggle. But that seems a lifetime ago now.

Trust me Nick there won't be any objection to the thread.

It needs saying.

The Events threads have seen very little interest this year with us barely making the minimum requirements for the shows we attend (with the exception of Japfest 2). When I joined and became actively involved in the club it was apparent that apart from Wollaton / Thoresby and Rally Day @ Chatsworth the club did very little and attended non of the big shows this was something I discussed with a few members resulting in Azz and I approaching Dave (then owner) he also suggested we would recieve little interest from the membership in attending the bigger events however having been to these shows with other car clubs (Ex Ford RS Owners) we agreed we'd run with a few and see what response we got.

The first yr we attended all the major shows with a good turnout at everyone 30+ cars at Modified Live @ Oulton Park 25+ for the Japshows @ SantaPod however year on year these numbers have been falling i'm happy to listen to the reasoning and can guess what some may be.

I deliberately reduced the number this year to just 5/6 spreading them out a bit more and it takes alot too organise with money collection, ticket allocation, meeting point arrangements etc and the obvious fact that I feel I need to support the event so have to turn up.

The harsh reality is I'm finding it harder and harder to justify the time and effort put in to take 8-10 cars to Japshow 4-5 cars to Trax except that for those that do turnout I hope they meet a few friends have an enjoyable day after all the club is here for its members and whilst we still have the few that want to attend these shows then I will continue to organise them.

With regard to other events meets etc we have always encouraged an open policy on these if theres something your attending and think others would then post it up and we have tried to introduce fresh faces to the team with firstly Ady and Scatty and now Stealth and Stig filling the role of events organiser trying to find different activities for the members and forum users to do (however this appears a fruitlesss task) albeit with varying degree of success but always with our thanks.

We will continue to try and bring new and different events to the club however when we recieve such poor interest moving forward it will be difficult to commit to these.

As said earlier were happy to listen to reasons, opinion and suggestions so please feel free to voice yours

well i think ive attended 95% of the meets since i joined midland scoobs..

i struggle to do things in the week as doing things in the week meens i have to take a day off work...and seeing as i dont get many days off in the year,i cant do week days.....i cant even mot my car in the week without either leaving my car at the garage for the whole week or taking the day off so wasting a valuable day to me,so i have to find somewhere to do it on a saturday...so youll perhaps forgive me if i dont do track days

When everyone as had enough and MS is no more folk will wonder why, seen it before on other forums.

Seems strange how a pub meet can get really good numbers , but a major event as little interest .

As Gaz said money is tight for everyone and i understand that.

cause pub meet is on a sunday and most peeps can make pub meets, and takes little petrol to get there..like i said i cant do trackdays in the week....

we have over 20 cars going to donington just like last year......

Not bad 20 cars on the doorstep , So 20 cars out of how many members.

And i bet it's the same 20 as last year near enough.

it pretty much is nick tbh...but we cant make peeps come to shows..

I'm not saying you can mate .

Like the title of the thread i just feel it must be disappointing for the organizers, when they take their time to set up events and no one shows any interest.

If i owned a scoobie i would do my best to make all the major events, as it is i do a lot with the mlr and try to do as much with you guys as possible.

AND I DON'T EVEN OWN A SCOOBIE......LOL

as sheepy has said and yourself nick , yes its normally the same faces , what really gets me is new members ???? now before any new members think hold on a minute , NOT ALL , ??? meaning people take the time to log on join the site , then never post or say anything what so ever , now not all new members are like that prime example h8wrx from daventry , curtis , has joined post,s said hello etc etc etc , makes me wonder why people join then never say a word after membership ????

whats the point ????

i do igree with some but all , i think not everybody wonts to go to shows as most of them are miles away and money tight . the local ones have a good turn out , and are the new members thinking we are not friendly as ive noted you see them at one or two meet and never again and as gaz said its the same people on the site so have we got to make a better effort to make them welcome , and them to make a effort to get involved' this is just my thought on the matter

i think the bottom line is folk arent interested in shows anymore.

same as last year tbh, it was the same old regular faces who turned up to them all.

do we need to get hung up on going to shows???? dunno tbh, i enjoy going to them, but obviously folks have families and like spending their sundays at home.

regarding the curborough day out. think we have to realise it is on a thursday, which aint the best for most folk, im ok, i can choose my day off, most cant. altho, me and ady are going to blyton end of july on a sunday and noone else is bothered.£99 for a full days safe track. safer than driving on the road in fact.

maybe we just need to crack on as we are and keep this place alive and hope things pick up. i dont think the forum has got worse, again its just the same folk keeping it alive and running....people come and go, i think thats just the way it is.

just resign ourselves to the fact, it is what it is... does it matter if we dont go to japfest or fast show as a club???? most folk probably think been there done it, and its the same old same old every year.....saying that nbo is a new show we havnt been to before and there are 8 names down.....

i think that says it all......

think its nice to go as a club and have a stand as you know youve car is safe , if in a carpark who knows , but if not many members wont to go its pointless .trackdays i think people are worried about damage to there cars but we must keep the site going as to many clubs go to the wall so lets hope things get better

Scatty just so you realise your trackday at Blyton is on the same weekend as TOTB so that may be a reason for a poorer turnout.

but how many are going????. we went last year dint we??? yep thats right, the same 5 people.....so im sure thats not the reason.i can fully understand folks not wanting to thrash their cars round a proper track day, but blyton and curborough are hardly a proper trackday. but if folk dont want to, then thats their decision, but its safer than having a spirited drive to the meet.....

i stand corrected if im wrong about totb, but i doubt anyone even knows its on....

ha ha maybe its the thought of a day with me and ady, now that would explain a lot!!!
