Azz
Well into my second week of stopping smoking, i have been smoking for 19 years and i am 31 now, very stupidly started as a very young whipper snapper, my parents both smoked and let me get on with it as a 12 year old boy, tut tut. I used to be fit as a a fiddle and did lots of sport until i started smoking. I did notice within the first year of smoking that i was becoming very un fit and was running out of puff so to speak and soon stopped the sports as it was getting hard, but easy to smoke so thats what i did, all my mates were smoking and it was the thing to do, so was at it ever since.Anyway the cost of the fags and being smelly and unfit was doing my head in, so finally decided to give it a go. I am a Strong minded person so giving it a dam good crack, so ok only second week in and i do feel better already and theres crap coming off my chest already. I am using patches so my body is still getting nicotine, on step 2 this week 14mg done 21mg last week, so will be on 7mg next So far so good, although i been grumpy at times. Chez is a star for putting up with it, only for the best in the end, much better on the wallet and plan to save for our holiday in the the usa later this year, so thats good but how much damage has it done to me and will i ever feel fit again, i sure hope so. One of my enjoyments used to be weight lifting but after a very serious accident i have to take it steady, but am going to give it a shot again and even cycle to work lol, one thing at a time though, hopefully it all goes well.I guess i must have been wanting a fag to talk so much about it pmsl, feeling comes and go if you let it. I would imagine there are a few people on here that have or tried to quit, what are your experiences. ?????

fildigger
My Missus smoked from age 14 but finally gave up at age 35 when she got pregnant with her 3rd child (our first son)....So my advice would be to come off the pill and start a family...worked for my missus! Seriously though, good luck Azz, it's a tough thing to do and you will need as much support as possible but that strong will you have will be your best asset

FQNICK
Stay with it and don't give in mate. I packed up for 3 years then like a DICK started again. On the damage it's done i would hate to think are you insured well..lol I packed in drinking heavily nearly 13 years ago when my eldest was born, December last year i had a bit of a health scare and needed some scans done.First thing the doctor said was do i drink a lot as my liver was showing signs of alcohol abuse. Made me think what it would be like now if i hadn't stopped drinking as your liver can repair it's self.

scoobyspud
I've never smoked.mainly due to my dad telling me, that if he ever caught me, he would kick me round Farndon with his size nine boots.keep it up and you'll feel a million times better in the future. Ian
Im 39 and have been smoking cigarettes since the age of 14. Both my parents used to smoke so when I was young I thought it was what adults did.Gave up four years ago for a period of three months and it was the hardest three months of my life, started again after going on holiday to Cuba and just had one Cigar, and that was it... back on the fags again.I thought i had cracked it, giving up for three months but one Cigar put me back on them again. If I can give a little advise dont be tempted in the slightest, one little puff of a smoke will put you back on them again.Well Done for doing a few weeks, I understand how hard it is... keep up the good work.To be honest I smoke and wished i was in your shoes, brave enough to try to stop again.Well Done
