ADAM Type F
Do you think this could be a scam, had an offer of 7k for the sti but he is from germanyHi,before i accept the offer or make another, i would like to ask you some questions.I am from germany (see my Feedback - i bought some cars and several bikes and other things in the uk..), and i am extremely interested and after several trials (i talked to several sellers in the uk, everyone was selling the car before i was able to come to the uk even having a contract with me) i would like to buy this car for myself. I can pay a deposit and i would be in the uk for business reasons on the 24th of january, so it would be perfect if i could drive it back then. I could arrange a courier earliere, but would like to buy by myself. If this would be okay, we could go on. Could you send some more pictures of the car to armin_029@hotmail.com . I would like to see even the bad bits as it would be good to know everything which is relevant as i will come a long way to pick up.Hope to hear form you.Best Regards Armin
gwr northants
adam remember my blue uk turbo ???i sold it to a guy on ebay his name (no crap was klaus schumacher)he lived in germany and he was the winning bidder ,and i thought oh crap look a bogus bidder all i bloody need but within 10 mins of the auction ending he had deposited 200 quid in my paypal account , the day before he was due to collect i blew a hole in the block , (another story another time lol ) i beleive the bloke was genuine though , as he was flying over with a mate to also pick up a supra from kent somewhere , send him the pics fella , worse case he dont come and look , your not gonna let him take the car till you have cash in hand scoobs are like rocking horse dirt over there fella , he could be genuine . my last moto cross bike back in 2008 was sold to a lad from holland who came over with his dad in a van picked it up paid cash and of he went ??what harm can an email be , if not happy using your email , set up another ??? it could be ok ????? fildigger
These ones can be awkward.!....i feel the most important thing is to remain in the drivers seat, that is to make sure everything is done on your terms....so you require things like name. address and phone numbers (ok i know this could be false!)I find the best way to eradicate timewasters is to send him along your mobile number (he probably will have this off your advert anyway) and insist (nicely) that he calls you to discuss the car, payment, collection etc....anyone who does not wish to speak to you has obviously got another agenda !!.......anyone spending £7K on a car and travelling a long way would want to make sure the seller is a genuine guy and the car is 'as described' !!!!...wouldn't you?As long as you don't divulge any personal and bank details, then you have nothing to worry about, other than dealing with an absolute tosser. ADAM Type F
Right the guy seems genuine he is paying a £200 deposit buy ebay tonight and his friend Peter is coming this weekend to look at the car for him as he is in the uk, if Peter gives the car the thumbs up the guy buying the car will pay the remaining balance by bank transfer and collect the following weekend. He also said he will do all this out of ebay so there are no fees for me to pay.Any advice welcome
Andy
Adam i'd be wary of giving your bank details to a person i'd never met as he will obviously need these to transfer the money. Perhaps a solution would be to ask that he transfers the money to his friend Peter who then pays you in cash or cheque which you will have time to deposit and clear before he collects the car.Only advice and perhaps i'm over suspitous. Hope it all works out ok and the sale goes ok.

Steve
Have to agree with Andy here, i would be cautious about giving bank details for an overseas sale. It may be genuine of course. Probably worth sending Marv a PM as he has now sold two cars overseas and probabaly knows the best approach.Hope it's all genuine and good luck with the sale. I'd have it myself if funds would allow
gwr northants
Take the deposit via pay pal adam and ask for cash. If he buys the car he can bring the cash with him when he comes to pick up. ???
scatty
cash only.......not uncommon for cars to be sold abroad, esp scoobs and lotus....but i wouldnt be giving my bank details to anyone....for the money we are talking, i wouldnt say it would be out of order to ask for cash....tough call....at this stage id still be wary.....im guessing if it isnt genuine, you will be receiving some cock and bull story about cant turn up or something similar....
