i called Millers the house builders today about a socket in my living room that i believe needs attention because a small spark can be seen from behind the switch when switched on

customer services sent my details to an electrical subcontrator who did the electrics in my building who told me this can be normal!!!!!!!! WTF

i have asked them now to come and replace all the other sockets then because none of the others spark lol

to be continued.............

Are you trying to switch a load ? i.e is something plugged into the socket that comes on straight away ?

They shouldn't normally spark. Sockets with switces are designed to switch the cicuit on or off quickly and supress any arc, but may slightly spark if a load is present. Best way is to change the socket for a good quality one like MK or Crabtree

Change the socket then ! as for the etc etc if you overload the socket that will degrade it in time You may want to spread you etc etc across other sockets to even out the load a bit. :stuart:
