STiG
Well I've just seen a black unmarked Volvo reg FJ60 KGH (or KEH) flying past me. windows all tinted and looking all James Bond.... Which makes me wonder... are those window tints legal??? Being barely able to see the driver I would guess that if I was stopped with that level of tinting I would be committing an offence under the road traffic act?Its got me so thoroughly mad I nearly spilt my beer as I booted it onto the dual carriageway! Ian
When you mentioned Panda, I thought you must have been looking in some kind of reflective surface...

Ian
Never did understand the idea of tints, only to disguise your precious cargo in a quality wagon. All they do is conduct heat, so why bother?

They may shade it a little, but it will definitely conduct more, not 100% but if I wanted to keep my motor cool I would put on the air con whilst driving or put up a reflective surface in the window whilst parked, hey you could even do both!?Tinting is not my cup of tea to be honest... fella
The cops can do this if they want. They can pretty much break any road traffic law if it's for a "policing purpose". Obviously tints that dark helps keep them undercover, so they'd get away with it for that reason.
shaky
A lot of these unmarked cars you are all seeing are not infact genuine police cars. Most Senior officers have lost their cars in cut backs and are being paid an allowance to use their own cars instead. they are only allowed to use the blue lights when on route to an incident.I've been offered a set for the P1........ scoobyspud
So as usual Shaky1 Rule for the law, and everyone else can get stuffed and fined.
FQNICK
There was a black scooby and a silver evo9 working the M1 between 28 &30 last week. Wonder how many Bmw drivers tried racing them.
gurn
there were 2 GB270 impreza saloons parked up on the M1 earlier with a black peugeot....... they had all the blue's on.

Depends how quick you want us to get to jobs without cars??????I only used mine once so far and that was a job on the motorway, three lanes of static traffic and i'm in an 04 renault megane dynamique in black, the quicker i get there, the quicker we get the dead body out the way, the quicker you get home!!!!!!!!!Simples!!!!!!! STiG
All I know is it was black, it was flashing all over the front, it had a sign light up in the back window saying police, it was moving faster than a fat kid at a cream cake convention and its front windows were nearly fully tinted. As for being able to break the law for "policing purposes" thats just silly. They're supposedly bound by the same road traffic laws, MOT restrictions and Insurance requirements that we are. I think that seeing as we, the taxpayer, fund such things we should have the power to request to see what our money goes on and question its legality. Begs the question. Who watches the watchers? hendo
I saw an unmarked police horse eating grass in a field once. It couldn't catch me though as the gate was locked and he didn't have any pockets to keep the keys in.
