fildigger Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Agreed on the Stenson Bubble as being ideal in most cases ! The Cherry tree as most of us know is also a good venue, having a huge carpark, which is essentially a free for all (referring to the bigger space away from the Pubs dedicated parking area)It also has the V Power at the Shell garage and the option of a few eatery places, Plus it is very accessible and easier to find for new members! Finally the Cherry Tree does have a childs play area with the A38/A50 being the Adults
Bigfootgman Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 could always get forestforever to stick his burger van on the gravel carpark
gurn Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 could always get forestforever to stick his burger van on the gravel carpark :thumbup:GENUIS!!!!!!!!!!! we can get served by MARIO!!!
hendo Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 I think he does gymcarna events on sundays. The coffee shop was spot on tbh your better off going across to there.
whiteknuckleride Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 i am certain there are other pubs that meet all of our requirementsthe problem is actually being ar53d to source and organise a new venuei think the bubble meets the majority, but not all of our requirements and if only we could be made to feel wanted and welcomed by the current management and staff then peeps would be happywe seem to be a hindarence to them and not a monthly asset to themmore and more are talking of using the cafe across the road rather than the bubble so at what point does the bubble become a good venue simply because it has a field for us to park on!!!!!if that is the case then is the bubble that great a venue just because of the field???........which personally i would rather park in a decent car park!!!!i am sure the MS owners are reading the thread and taking in peoples thoughtslets hope the bubble take on board our criticisms and meet our requirements over the next few monthsi personally think a new venue could be found if the bubble do not sort themselves........it simply needs the time and effort to find one and go and speak to the staff (something i would be happy to look into if the owners really wanted me to)
Azz Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Once again, I have to apologise for any unhappy members, but for many years I've been sorting this out for MS and have done a hell of a lot of ground work into looking for other venues and meeting with the owners of these places. To be quite honest although a handful of people are unhappy with the service of the Bubble, quite frankly other places just don't cut the mustard and the Bubble is quite central for MS and we always get a decent turnout here. The previous owner was always disappointed with the amount of people that actually used the pub, because the numbers of people eating were quite small compared to the number of members attending the meet and at one point it was getting to the point where it wasn't worth the hassle and extra staff for him. Now under the new ownership we may still be ironing a few problems out and im afraid the good outweighs the bad regarding our aims of having the MS meets there. We just dont seem to be able to get the numbers of people attending anywhere else like we do at this venue. So as far as Im concered the Bubble is the place to be.As for the discounts I will contact Connie and ask him if he will increase the membership discount to more than one person per membership card and also everyone is free to phone up and reserve a table but it was mothers day on Sunday and the tables would have been booked up well in advance.
richard555 Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 well said azz, you cannot please all the people all the time
Sheepy Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 indeed.my 2 pennethif we did find somewhere else to go and it didnt work out with attendence etc,i very much doubt that the bubble will have us back,so leaving us without anywhere to go againi shall leave my 2 penneth at that for a change.
hendo Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Also agree with Azz-they let us use the electric free for the dent man and to be fair i dont eat in the pub due to service issues, my choice, but do have a drink. Other than that the venue is perfect. As for discount issues, 10% ON A £6 MEAL = 60 Pence, so aint worth the aggro asking for it.
Scratch Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 >because the numbers of people eating were quite small Aggro of people not buying food ????WTFIt cost me best part of £20 for 8 drinks (and one of them was blackcurrent squash as they had run out of fruit shoots for the kids.....HTF do you organise such a stock cock up on mothers day when you tables are fully booked, and there are bound to be loads of kids...smacks of incompetance to me....)But anyway, if you consider an perhaps 30-50 people turn up at an average of £2-3 a drink, then they get £150 even if peeps only buy one drink each, chances are people will buy more than one.....So it's hardly an effort to open a gate for over £150 extra turnover. As parking isn't normal in the field so that's the only effort required, surely opening the gate. When we go we usually eat, but that was several landlords worth ago before the scoob spent 2 years off the road. This was only my second meet back in the saddle, and the last was at Larch Farm.I'm sure people would give some genuine indication of the likelyhood of them eating if the Landlord wants some indication so as to know if he needs extra staff or not ???? Thus then surely everyone is happy, landlord makes more moeny, and doesn't push up his costs unnecessarily ??? Just a though.I simply don't get it, the country is going down the toilet, you'd think people would be desperate to just give the smidge of extra effort to attract custom, but it would seem not. I guess common sense really is dead (see Marv's post )
initial_g Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I must admit being my local its brill for the meets but the foods not great and the staff are igronant at the best of times....
