Bit of a grump about todays Bubble meet

Scratch

Recommended Posts

Well, I though the meet was well attended, and always, had a nice chat or 3 with other members, then we went inside to eat.... bearing in mind we had booked a table...

So 1:25 we go inside, order at the bar and ask about our reserved table, to be told it was at the end past the carvery.

At this point I requested discount when I ordered, to be grumped at by the middle aged lady who served me, then followed a few moments later when I ordered for my familiy and mum and dad that the discount only applies to the member......and not the party who the member was with and wholly paying for.....

10 mins later we try to go to our table to be told that we were 10 mins late and our table wasn't available anymore.... WTF ??? we'd been at the bar since before we were due at 1:30, and I'd asked about the table when we arrived.

Se we went and sat down to have a drink and wait to then be told that the table would be 20 mins..... bedgrudingly I said OK, like what choice did I have but to ruin the day for my mum and wife who I was taking out for a meal (while keeping the kids happy by taking them to the scooby meet).

A few minutes later they came and apologised for the wait, and said the table would be ready soon, and that it was donw to the previous people being 30 mins late that it wasn't ready..... So now it's not our fault but someone elses....WTF kind of an amateur performance is this ?????

Anyway the food came and went, and was OK (beef a bit tough, profitteroles too few for £4, about 80p each :Drinking_trink38:), so went to pay the bill.....

I was served at the bar by the same lady as before, I reminded her about discount she had another grump as she'd already rung it all into the till, this is after I'd been honest and confessed to loads of food missing from the bill..... (probably about £15-20 worth) only to be grumped at again that "it would only be like 50p or something" so I told her not to bother.

Never have I received such poor service, or poor discount.....

So what can I say if that's the standard of the current establishment.

1. can we find somewhere else to go please? Where the staff are a bit more pleasant, and don't feel inconveninced by customers.

or

2. They won't ever find me darkening their door with a food order again

and

3. They can shove their half hearted attempt at discount somewhere the sun doesn't shine, and if they want to bend over I'll happily help plant it there with my boot.

Sunshine was great, MS company was brill, Service was rubbish, food was OK, the memory was average, and for the >£80 bill, there was mastercard :Hammer3:

That's not good at all mate wich is a shame as before the bubble was always a warm wellcome good food and quality service , as for the discount I find that terrible !! How can they justify that ??? Looking at pics quite a few turned up!!! so no doubt quite a few paid fir drinks meals etc!!! Etc!!! Maybe it is time to go else were and be givin a better welcome than what people have been getting at the bubble !!

I don't think the pubs not the best venue, fields ok for car meets.. if its dry... but the pub IMO can't cope with a group of 50 ppl turning up at the same time.

i dont think any pub could cope with 50 people all turning up and wanting feeding at the same time????

did anyone else eat there today????? it seems the food was ok, just the women serving behind the bar....

i still think its a good venue. central for everyone, we couldnt find one suitable last time we were struggling, so i doubt we would find one now......

I sympathise with the poster.....i was there today but didn't eat (only  )

I live very near to the Bubble (it is almost my local) and i have eaten there on many occasions on a regular evening & weekends and it has always been a nice place to eat, with good food a good service, in fact, it has gained a very good reputation over many years...i understand it is under relatively new ownership but it seems in this case it is the 'Servant' who is to blame here ! ..a word to the owner about her less than capable ability would probably of been the best way to go!......

..and would certainly of got you the members discount you were entitled to (maybe more)

I feel it deserves a 2nd chance!

Bad news to here of bad service , tbh when we have had food there i have not had any problems this said i did note that the rost spuds were limited to 3 per head bit tight if u like ya roast spuds !

As for the venue i think its spot on lots of room for all members with great photo points if we were at any other venue i dont think we would have got the pics that we did today as there just aint the room

may have to have a wonder over to the cafe next time i do hope that the bubble can sort things out for the good of everyone

Well, it would be nice if

1. Firstly could a mod alter the title of the thread so I don't look like a muppet

2. Someone could clarify if the discount is for the member only, or for what the member is paying for (I appreciate the discount is only for food).

3. For me, as a venue, the biggest thing the Bubble scores on is the field and parking area which is great. It has zero facilities for kids, and quite a few of us have them, so it would be nice to have somewhere with a play area.

There must be other places near by that might enjoy having a large group of customers turn up once a month. There must be 3 pubs in Sawley which might be interested.

Such as the:

- Plank and Leggitt in Sawley, Has indoor and outdoor kids play area, has a large car park (admittedly it doesn't have a big field though, and I don't think you can book, so you take your chances turning up for food).

- Risley Park on the west side of Risley. Have cycled past it a couple of times, and has recently been refitted, and as I recall has a big car park. Might be worth a look ?

- What about Clock Warehouse in Shardlow ? Any reason the club left there, it's not exactly far from the currnet venue.

There must be loads of others in the Nottingham-Derby Area.

But happy to give Bubble a further go, and what's this cafe that people keep mentioning ?

the Plank isnt big enough for us, and The Clock isnt, they didnt want us taking the places of people who turn up for food. after all, not every midland scooby member eats. so i can understand why a pub wouldnt want us taking up spaces of paying customers....

I've edited the post title for ya.

As for your comments there's no excuse for poor service regardless of day, how busy or whose fault it may have been.

As for finding an alternative venue its difficult Azz and myself spent sometime looking at alternatives to the Bubble when the new owner took over and our initial service and his response was poor.

The Plank & Leggit gets very busy and the car park just isn't suitable if we get 40+ cars.

The Clock Warehouse basically asked us not to use them when the club meets reached 20+ as it disrupted their normal customers.

I know it sounds strange but we approached a few alternatives and they either didn't entertain car clubs or simply didn't want the extra custom. Many are worried about the adverse effects on their normal custom for what they see as a small gain once a month.

Larch Farm was always friendly, accomodating and the food and service excellent however the members futher south rightly expressed an issue with the travel.

We went to a 2 venue system to try and please people and again Six Hills offered excellent parking and the food was resonable but we sort of burnt our bridges there when for one reason or another only 1 member turned up to septembers meet.

For me the Bubble clearly still has its problems however it has lots of positives.

As for the discount i'll get Azz to clarify the situation with Connie.

Been having a trawl with Bing Maps, and there are quite a few pubs around that seem to have large car parks, but what I don't get is people claiming not to want the custom. WTF ????

Disturbing normal custom.....

So turning up em masse once a month isn't normal, or do these places expect us to come in groups of 2 or 3 cars, arranged so that we all come once a month but never together.....:D

But joking aside, I see their point, and I see how the bubble scores as it works as there is a huge second car park that only opens when required..... the bubble can't be the only place with this arrangement or a car park this big surely......

ALthough of most of the pubs I've been in around here, Plank and Leggitt has one of the biggest, so maybe the answer is, actually no.....

And as for 6 hills, no idea, never been, don't know where it is ??? Car was still off the road then :cheers2:
