Well its that time of the year and just checked my mileage, costs etc and found that I covered 1,512 miles in the year and it worked out approx 26 mpg which was ok, BUT, with Insurance, Road Tax, Servicing Petrol etc £1,300 ... :o

how much are you guys roughly paying on insurance if you don't mind me asking?

mine just seems to keep going up and up every year now.

just under £1k this year so I rang around to get other quotes but it was still the best. 29 yrs old. Garaged over night. Not a bad post code I suppose. No points or convictions. 5 yrs no claims.

I rang Adrian flux and quoted I was a member, declared it had an exhaust and boot spoiler and they wanted £1200 p.a.

I don't think the rest of the running costs are bad to be honest for the performance you get. I do the minor servicing and repairs myself. I get away with £30-40 v.power per week. Tax is nothing really on d.d.

its just the insurance that kills me :(

happy new year to you all btw!

Aaron.

with my 30th coming up and also getting married this year, do you think that will bring the premium down by half? Haha :)

I'm similar age to yourself, I think mine was around 500 when I was 29 and I think its around the same now.

I had my old classic and evo a couple of years back and they were both around the £5-600 mark. I just cant get my head round it being so expensive to insure a slower lower spec car which is more modern with more safety features as well.

but I'm lead to believe it goes off statistics and the wrx is more accessible to yobs who just right them off I suppose and now the more sensible drivers have to pay the price!

any advice on getting cheaper insurance would be much appreciated as every little helps lol.

Hi,

now they are passing a law regarding capping whiplash claims insurance companies have promised to pass the savings onto their customers making all our policies cheaper.........

Bullsh!t, I bet we the end user don’t see any savings at all, last year our company combined motor trade insurance was £19K !!!!

your right kev if you think over the course of umpteen years if you don't make a single claim all that money down the drain just to line the pockets of the crash for cashers.

I bet the money paid out on whip lash claims is more then the money paid out in damages to fix the vehicle in most cases. Especially when these crash for cash people have about 10 people in the car claiming whip lash lol.

its a bloody joke.

I'm going to get a quote to see if it does change the price when I become 30 and get married. Doubt it will though.

Hi,

dan@aidrianflux

We have a customer who has a 22B and wants to insure it, apparently you are one of the few companies that recognises the fact its not just a 1998 Impreza and you require a valuation of the car, we can give this as it was my car some time back.

If we can be of help e mail me direct on info@scoobyclinic.com or PM me through here

Hi Kev,

Agreed Valuation is either done in house by our specialist team or with the help of an approved independent vehicle assessor. If your customer wanted to PM me on here or contact the Agreed Value team directly we'd be happy to discuss the options with himself.

Kind Regards

Dan

Got to love some insurers at times. "Glacer's guide says it's an 18 year old Impreza in average condition so it's worth £2000". I knew somebody who bought a brand new Smart car around the year 2000. At the time the cars were only available as left hand drive as official UK cars until a year or two into production when they made right hand drive spec (much like the early batch of the first Audi TT's which Audi brought to the UK to satisfy early demand) The woman on the insurance phone line would not believe it was an official UK vehicle even though it was sold through the approved dealer network and registered from brand new in the UK, solely because it was left hand drive despite at the time there being no such thing as a right hand drive car of its type.

my STi 330s (mods declared) has come down every year since I've owned it. Paid about £670 with Liverpool Victoria in the 1st year (2011)... now I've paid £350 using Keith Michaels

that's a couple of companies I haven't tried.

what I think I'm going to do is wait until I'm 30, got married and I've had the car for over a year( as I think insurance take how long you've had a car like this into account, even though my previous cars were 2 imprezas and an evo) then try again using a specialist insurer like kieth Michaels. Because I also plan to have it as a weekend toy by the end of the year, cos once the weddings out the way I will be able to afford a work horse and keep the Subaru in the garage and the miles down :)

I added my missus to my insurance and it dropped hugely.  Although she barley drives it as she doesn't like the twin plate clutch.  It also made a huge difference having kids.

I also have a child.

you may have a point adding the misses to the policy. Just did an admiral multi car quote just to see what kind of price it would come up with. My 04 wrx mods declared, her juke. Both on policy on both cars. Came up with £1200 for both so that's a step in the right direction.

I'm at around £1300 for three cars with partner on the policy. The Type R and Spec C are on limited mileage (between 3000 & 5000) the 330D M-Sport Coupe 20000 with business mileage. Adrian Flux were very close on the Type R 2016 , so I'll trying them again this year :thumb:

It was weird as I tried to add my brother on my policy as an ocassional user as he's a police officer with high speed pursuit training.  It did lower it fractionally but hugely dropped adding my missus on the policy.

I pay £1200 a year for insurance on 3 cars (MY11 STI, BMW M135i and Terzo with all mods declared on Terzo) for me and the misses no milage limits and first 2 on full business use. They are all on one multi car policy with AVIVA. Our post code helps a lot though as when we moved here it nearly halved our insurance bill.
