  1. Since the law change last year It is still true for the fixed cameras but a law enforcement officer is able to apply zero tolerance. Here is is a good explanation. https://blogs.staffs.ac.uk/law-policing-forensics/2017/04/24/breaking-news-no-leeway-on-speeding-limits/
  2. Always worth checking your Speedo with a gps app. They always read high unless you are running bigger diameter wheels. Don’t do it once though do it on different days as you can get the odd day when there aren’t many satellites which gives erratic numbers. The next thing to remember is you are allowed 10% on the speed limit to allow the manufacturers some tolerance. So at 70 the camera will definitely not trigger unti 77. Hence 33 in 30 zone. Some areas allow another 1 or 2 mph on top. So with a speedo reading low you can often be fine at it reading 80mph in 70 zone. My classic is fine at 82. The wife’s M140i is almost bang on so I stick to 77. As said above on M1 the cameras are on the side of some of the matrix gantries. Kev might be be able to give an accurate speed reading on the dyno to work out your % error on speedo reading. Worth asking if you run it again.

    ?.

    I am over here.
  4. Blimey that is not good. Sounds like a quality issue. Have you contacted Alcon?
  5. I pay £1200 a year for insurance on 3 cars (MY11 STI, BMW M135i and Terzo with all mods declared on Terzo) for me and the misses no milage limits and first 2 on full business use. They are all on one multi car policy with AVIVA. Our post code helps a lot though as when we moved here it nearly halved our insurance bill.
  6. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.
  7. Lol. That would frighten the beegeebers out of me. Might attract a different sort to the garden though!
  8. I would say this is a great example of the unpredictability of braking systems. There are many things that contribute to brake temperature and wear. I am not aware of any company that guarantees brakes for competition use. This could be a case of poor heat cycling or ineffective rear brakes or poor ventilation or a bad batch of pads or high air temps or poor front to rear balance. The list is endless. Many people over look the fact the putting huge multi pot calipers on the front reduces the work rear brakes do as it is a ratio of the piston areas, pad areas front to rear and friction coefficient of the pads. So if you double the piston area on the front and probably double the pad area then the rears do 4x less work so more heat to the front. At the end of the day pads and discs are consumables. A car should always be driven with feeling for the mechanical components unless budget is unlimited. I would always advocate to change driving style as soon as fade is detected. Simply back off as you have reached the design limits of the components. The clinic have been very good sending out an uprated set but I would certainly be looking at the balance in the system and further cooling.
  9. Some stunning escorts come up also. The prices tend to be on the high side so probably all going abroad.
  10. Well the police have taken it seriously putting a back track on it through the mobile phone network and internet. These are the devices that have been used by a gangs who were stealing prestige cars. Basically put it on the car in the street/airport/ even care repair garage. Track it to where it is left locked up most of its life. Then use a gps jammer to knock out the cars own tracker and knick the car.
  11. They are relying on the fact that most people's pride and joy sits on its own and only gets a run out on a full moon so easy to nick from its cosy lock up. The device is basically a mobile phone with a SIM card so the mini guys are saying take it to a popular location (e.g. supermarket) and remove the SIM card put it in your phone and run up a huge bill on high tarif calls. Then leave it in a bush at the location.
  12. The Mini Club has reported these being put on cars at shows. Look out! Check your cars if you go to shows/motoring events.
  13. Interesting how much the exhaust length increases as it heats up through the run!
